Default A/C doesn't work

Over the winter I had to replace the heater core. About a month ago I drove it from Virginia to Florida with a thousand pounds of furniture and I lost a plug and radiator tube and had to fix them with duct tape and constantly pour coolant and water in to keep it from overheating. When I got to Florida I replaced the busted rubber and refilled the radiator. Now I've been unable to get the A/C to work and the controls are weird, they stick in the hot section and it takes a lot of force to turn it to the cold area when it's blowing air. I'm not sure if it's controls that are messed up or if there's something under the hood. Any suggestions or ideas on how to narrow it down?

The control Hot to Cold , most of them its just a cable from the **** to the flapeer door that close one side cold or hot. Some times it gets dirty and get hard to turn. i have the same problem . I'll clean mine as soon as i can . For the A/C nto working, it could be low . When was the last time u use it?.
