Budget Work Truck
My two son in laws have started a solar installation business and needed a work truck for $3000. Hunted online found a 95 F250 XL 2wd 5.8 in solid mechanical shape for $1500. Bigger ticket items it needed where tires, winshield, toolbox and pipe/ladder rack. To be road worthy it also had a list of about twenty items. Most days it will tow a 16 x 7 enclosed trailer. Got it all done for $3000 minus the pipe rack.

Looks solid. How many miles and how does the engine and transmission run? We use ours for a local work truck as well. Solid and dependable, as long as you treat it with a little love and care for it!

Two things in my area really help with a project like this.
A really good and heavily used local classified listing service.
Two large pull it yourself wrecking yards nearby.

Miles at 195,000, PO had taken great care of it mechanically. Tune items look to only have 5000 miles or so on them, transmission shifts smooth and fluid is very clean. They'll really be loading it down so I defiantly wanted the 3/4 ton suspension and drive components.
The PO had let his twenty something son use it the last couple years, so a lot of the work on it was cleaning up from him.

Next goal should be putting the stock grille and headlight bezels back in, plus stock headlights back. Then it would be a solid truck. You can get all that new at Rock auto for less than $100.

Not a bad suggestion. The chrome mirrors and wiper arms where whited out, fixed that along with bumper repaint. Oh I can't forget the red bulb in the dome light. Couldn't figure that one out. The PO son had also lifted front end with spacers, on drivers side the keeper nut at bottom of the spring was missing along with the retainer at the top of the spring. Fortunate he had not messed with the alignment bushings so when spacers where removed alignment was perfect.

Ah so he had a leveling kit in it, I have no problem with that if it's done properly, but it sounds like it was not done properly. A simple leveling kit with 31' tires looks great on these trucks.
