Default broken ignition switch

so i changed the spark plugs on my truck, and when i went to start the truck, the stupid key broke in half, and the other half was stuck in the ignition switch. i pulled everything apart, i accidentally broke the switch, so now i need a new one, i couldn't get the other half of the key out , so i used a hammer to break it and get the key out haha would a lock smith make me a new key if i have both of the pieces of the key? or do i just have to get different locks and a different ignition switch?

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you're talking about the key cylinder, not the ignition switch. If the cylinder is broken and the key is broke in half then you don't have much choice but to replace both. I've heard of locksmiths re-pinning a lock to fit a key, or cutting a key to fit a lock. But never cutting a new key from two halves. You can try, but I've never heard of/seen it done.

A locksmith should be able to read a number off one of your other locks and re-pin a new ignition switch cylinder to the same key.

or just get a replacement cylinder from Ford..cheaper than a locksmith i bet.I do not recommend the ones from your local parts store...usually crappy.
