Default Brakee problems *puddle of doom*

heyy guys, had a ****ty night, its been raining for weeks and i drove through a decently big puddle today. Stopped at the next light, then when i drove again my steering wheel was locked in place. No turning power, that went away within 15seconds then when i went 2 use the brakes to pull overi stopped but it *clunks* sooo hard repeadetly, it's rough. When i go in reverse and hit the brakes there is no *clunk* but when going forward it *clunks*. The rear wheel are locking up very easily as well, I should note the ABS light did come on momentarily while the steering wheel wouldnt turn then it went out.

any input would be HUGELY appreciated! thanks!

is the clunk in the pedal? Also did you notice any squealing like a wet belt or something? I'd give it a day to dry out.

Agree that the power steering issue was likely due to a wet fan belt - which should've cleared up rather quickly.

The brake issue could be that the ABS electrics underneath got wet - hopefully a day or so of drying will clear things up, before you have to go further into the problem.

The brake issue could have been that the front disks got wet and did not brake as quickly as the dry drums in the rear. The front brakes stop about 90% of the truck while going forward, the rear stop the majority while backing up. This could be why you would lock the brakes up readily going forward and not in reverse. The clunk could have been just gear lash from locking up the rear tires so fast.

thanks for all the replys! all of them make sense. Fixed the problem this morningg, i agree with wde344 about the wet belt, went through the whole brake system today everything checked out. Then I disconnected my battery and all was fixed! i assume it restarted my computer/abs system or something and worked itself out.

thank you' to all those who reply'd
