Default brake trouble

as some of you might remember i own the 1992 f150 lifted 8 inches on 38s.. well i must have gotten a stick or rock caught in between my brake dust shields and rim while wheeling, and that threw it out of round and it now rubs going down the highway. tonight it got so hot and heated the brake pads to the point where they wouldnt stop my truck while fully pressed. i got towed home and started to inspect everything. im thinking scrap the shields and replace the caliper and all internal rubber inside the hub.. think the problem will be solved? oh and new pads of course.

With the 38 you are pressing the limit of the stock breaks so not being able to stop with them hot should not have heated the internal up to much. If you have installed larger than 15 inch rims you might look into installing larger brake disc and associated hardware to help with stopping.
