Default Bouncing speedometer

I have a 95 F150 4x4 with a 300 inline 6 & a 5 speed manual transmission with less than 94,000 miles on it. It's a good runner, but the speedometer starts jumping like crazy at speeds over about 55 - 60 mph.

I'd like to put an aftermarket cruise control in it, but not until the speedometer problems are solved.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

If it runs normally oitherwise, it is most likely the speed sensor or the wiring to your speed sensor, located on top of the rear differential. First thing to check. One bolt to remove it and you can see if it is covered in gunk.
