Bogging out? Really need some help
OK here we go. I have a 1995 f150 4x4 with 5.0 engine. i rewally only use this truck in town and at the local mud holes. recently anytime i put it in the mud it starts to miss fire and bog out> i changed the distributor, plugs and wires but that seemed to make things worse. now the truck is sluggish and again as soon as it gets wet it bogs out. i dont mind turning wrenches but suck at diagnosing. any help at all would be great.
spray clean MAF?
the O2 sensor is located where it could get VERY wet, check it for bare wires, or loosness. Also, check your exhaust for holes and cracks near the O2 sensor.
do you have any protection under and aroundd your engine accessories to keep the moisture out? is your exhaust tip hanging too low where it can get mud or water inside?
if you go mudding in pits deep enough to pour water/mud over the front of your hood, chances are you are dumping water and mud into the intake port under hood and all that moisture is getting trapped on the MAF causing crappy performance...it only get's better as the water evaporates out of the air filter. consider fabricating a snorkel intake or better protecting your intake plastic ports.
tha's all i've got 4 now
