just dont complain when it starts rattling a little during start ups as the damage has already started.

its like saying a chevette is just as good as a corvette just because a known branding makes it....

or even in easy to understand Ford Terms...an escorts just as good as a mustang...
so if autozone sells a filter for 15.00 bucks it would be a good filter? but if i find the exact same filter online for 3 bucks it would be junk then???

its not just the filters that are eating up engines, it is the lack of zink in the oils to comply with the new emmisions testing that is why when you buy any performance parts the tell you to buy an oil additive and to replace every time you change the oil.

and i've seen some escorts that would eat a mustang alive, does anyone know what a cosworth is? if not look it up.

Look up any equivalent filter to the Motorcraft FL-299. Go to a manufacturer's website such as Purolator or Wix and enter this number into their cross reference lookup.

No, the Fram Xtended Guard filter is one of the best filters on the market. The Extra Guard and Tough Guard are junk in my opinion. It's interesting how they go from being junk on their low end filter to something of a market leader on their high end filter.

Good choice on the Xtended Guard!

I agree. A great filter!

Also, I remember you saying you use M1 10w-40. Why not 5w-40 or 0w-40? Is it outside of your comfort zone? I've heard that M1 0w-40 is one of the world's best motor oils. Just curious as to why not a lower cold viscosity.
