#1 - that's what I did - seems ok.
#2 - I took mine to the shop for repressing too, it was not really expencivem but i guess prices in here might slightly differ from your local prices lol

The second photo is close, the cups go over the threaded end of the joint and the threaded end of the press needs to go through the other ball joint hole. You should replace both ball joints, if no you probably will need to replace the other shortly after you put it all back together.
You should seat the ball joint firmly against the knuckle and use the snap ring, even though the current one is not that way.

right, top ball joint doesn't get a snap ring. And um, for reference, did that tool come with instructions? CAUSE YOU GOT IT UPSIDE DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tool is not upside down for seating the joints. Anyway, point of the photo was to show that the throat of the tool is too small.

I'm sorry but I beg to differ. how you place the cups is what makes the ball joint go out or draw it in. When you read the book, it tells you the bottom ball joint is first out and last in. That's because the threaded part of the tool goes through the hole for the bottom ball joint. IF that were a bigger "c" tool, and you tried installing the ball joint like that, you would destroy the ball joint. Don't take my post as being a jerk, just letting you know, you have the right tool, you're just using it wrong. Look the first time I used one of those, maybe 20 or so years ago, I did the same thing. Did the shop take of it for you?
