Looking to add some rear lights to my truck. Sure foglights wired to a switch OR led brake light bar w/ reverse would work just fine, but I tried to think of something "cleaner", and something wired up to a switch as they might come in handy in the woods and not just in reverse or trailer hookup's. I thought about cutting the rear bumper with a die grinder and installing a set of grommet led clear trailer lights. Anyone on here done this or have pics? Post em up if so! I could only find couple pics on google.

 

Thought about doing that, won't work on mine now, but the original bumper it would have. Dammit. Here are mine, and the relay workings. There's an on-off-auto switch in my cab.

This was the cleanest setup I could come up with. Maybe if you're really ballsy, you can put them in the tailgate

 

^ thats the cleanest under bumper setup ive seen. My bumper is all chrome with no moldings and the trailer reverse lights measure real close to the width of the moldings that are on some trucks. The only drawback that I can think of on the bumper lights is that they will not be adjustable. LMC has a rear bumper with cutout's and lights already installed but I scratched that out since my rear bumper is in good shape.

 

They're as adjustable as the bumper holes will allow

I made these brackets to sandwich the holes in the bumper, that I believe were for trailer chains when using the bumper pull. (Eww bumper pull)

I cant remember if I tack welded the light brackets to the sandwiches or not.

The black piece has a identical piece above it, with the two holes and all, on the other ends of the bolts.


Edit: Ohhhh you meant the built in ones. Yeah, I was thinking that too. These are cocked out to the sides a little bit, that'd be hard to do with recessed ones
