Default Automatic to Manual conversion

As of right now I have the AOD trans but I want to convert to a manual shift because of many reasons. I also want to change out the stock open differential for a limited slip rear end. What do I need to do to accomplish this. I wanted to get a 6 speed or 5 speed transmission. What car/truck can I pull one out of also what kind of driveshaft would I need to change to the steering column or floor pan. I've tried looking for a good running standard truck that matches mine in how well it's taken care of and everything else but so far either they're all run down and beat up.

Hi, I don't have the answer to your question but I thought I'd chime in on this thread because I too am interested in possibly converting an F150 4WD from automatic to manual. I collect ninth generation and older trucks. So I'd be interested in information concerning anything prior to 1996.

Depends on which transmission gearbox you choose...you're also going to need a flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, pedals, possibly driveshaft, ECU, and maybe a starter......swapping out the open rear end gears for an LSD unit isn't too bad.

This might help....
