Default any ideas?

I have a 91 f150, 302. It starts & idles fine, but when give it gas it has small hesitation, has a flat spot during acceleration just off idle up to about mid range before it clears up. Acts like starving for fuel, but has new fuel filter & fuel pressure is to spec @ both idle & during acceleration. Thinking a timing pr ignition issue. Any ideas? Thanks

I think a good tune up on the spark side of things will do you well..cap,rotor,plugs,and maybe even wires....I found out early on that when a car or truck misbehaves under a load like your explaining it's usually a spark problem....every corroded connection slows down and weakens every spark....say the wire from the coil to the distributor is old and corroded on both ends there's two spots before it ever travels through the distributor... and if the cap is old and corroded there's two more placesthe spark gets weaker....see what I mean....? tune up...good luck...I hope you get it taken care of...

You could also check voltage at the throttle position sensor (TPS), assuming your truck has one. They work on variable voltage ( not sure offhand what the range is) and the voltage should rise steadily as you open the throttle. Just a thought, costs nothing to check if you have a voltmeter
