Alternator problems

Default Alternator problems

So I bought a new alternator but the bottom plug won't release, any help would be appreciated, I drive an 88fi50 4.9l v6. Thanks!!

I'm sure you pushed the little tab, if there is one. The plug may be melted to the alternator, you may just have to cut the wires and install a new pigtail connection. It is a good idea to install a new pigtail connection anyway. These all had to be replaced on this vintage Ford trucks. Hopefully the pigtail connector is still readily available at auto parts stores.

I've never seen a Ford 4.9l V6, could you post a picture? All the ones I've seen are inline.
