Default Air intake box

Hi there,
I am a new owner of an old 1987 f150 in Australia.
I am trying to put back in the original air intake box and associated pipe fittings.
Does anyone out there have a picture of what it should look like in the engine bay or have details from an owners manual for this series?
I have volume 1 of the workshop manual and would like to get volume 2 if it is out there somewhere?

Cheers,

Volume 1 of WHICH shop manual? Post pics of what you have (the truck & the book) and we might be able to help. There were several air filter configurations in the US in '87, for the various engines. But you didn't even say which engine your truck has. You should put ALL the truck's details & history into your signature so we can review them with each reply, as this page explains, AND put your location in your profile so it appears below your username:

There's also a link on that page that explains a few ways to add pics to your posts, including the way I'm doing. The links on this page go to several shop manuals:

Thanks for the reply. It has a v8 302 Windsor motor. It was converted to gas but then converted back to petrol only.
in the attached picture you will see an intake system I ordered through a second hand dealer. To me it seems like the wrong fit and I am sure there must be some extra housing to hold the air intake box in place. Also I am not sure if it would have originally had a maximum air flow device attached.

Could not get the pipes orientated to fit the box where i think it should go which is up against the coolant and wiper washer box.

Remember that to us, "gas" is what "petrol" is to you. What kind of gas did you mean? Propane, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG), or something else? Not that it matters - I'm just curious.

Those hoses are the correct type for '87-91 trucks, but not the casting in the middle. Those may not be assembled correctly to allow the filter box top where it goes, or part of the bends could have been cut out, so the straight casting is changing the box's position. This shows the configurations used here in those years:

Before that, EFIs had the filter box ON the engine, and there are links on this page to actual photos:

I'm always fascinated by these trucks that have been converted to RHD.

Thanks for the pictures, it makes a lot more sense now.
I will try to order parts here in Australia but am feeling they will probs have to come from USA.
In Aus the gas conversion meant you could run on both petrol and LPG.
Any chance you have a link for these parts?
Thanks for taking the time to help, I really appreciate it.
Cheers

Very few parts for these antiques are still in production. I have a large collection, but I'm not sure I have any that old. All of my trucks are '92-96 which are very similar but not exactly the same. You could put some of the later parts on your truck, but you should think that through before beginning because some of them will snowball into larger swaps than you anticipate.

About 1/4 of my junkpile can be browsed here (and searched on a computer using CTRL+F= Find):

As to the Ford service manual Vol.2; they should be all over eBay.
