Advice requested for C6 rebuild
I'm looking for advice from anyone who has rebuilt and installed a C6 transmission in their truck.
I picked up a used small bellhousing C6 and the associated parts (cooler, driveshaft, etc.) from a 1983 F150 this weekend. I'm looking to rebuild it and put it in my 4.9 1995 2wd F150. What kind of rebuild manual and rebuild kit would you recommend? It came with what looks like a used stock torque converter, but should I purchase a new one? I'm using this truck as a daily driver with about 120 mixed city and hwy miles weekly and will rarely be hauling anything.
Thanks for advice regarding this project.

That's a little more major of a project than just rebuilding it and stuffing it in.
Crossmember that holds the tranny will be different, wiring will be different (mlps tp neutral safety switch, you'll need a vacuum line and kick down linkage (and hopefully the 83 was cable shift but probably not), if you have an automatic now your computer won't work with a C6, not sure about how your flex plate will line up, and there's a bunch more things I haven't thought about yet.
All in all, it's going to be a lot of work and cash just so you can have less gears.
This is a project that can be accomplished if you're really stuck on the idea of having a C6 and won't consider anything else but for all practical purposes it's a really bad idea. For what that's worth.

Chris_1, you are absolutely correct that this would be a bad idea for a replacement stock 95 F150 transmission. Unfortunately, mine does not currently have the M5OD it left the factory with. The P.O. shoddily put in a battered mid-80s C5 auto and made several modifications to create a mechanical setup. I've been able to keep it limping along for years, but I think the worn out C5 is nearing the end and hope to have the C6 ready to replace it when it does. As much as I'd like to, I think reversing the P.O.'s modifications in order to install an AEOD or M5OD would likely prove difficult and costly.
Any thoughts on the most cost effective rebuild kit, C6 rebuild manual, and torque converter for this project?

Makes sense considering what's there.
I haven't been near a C6 in 10 years at least so no idea.
A transmission supply place would be the way to go if you can find one that will sell to you.
