Default A4OD Wont downshift

sorry E4OD! First off. I am not a Ford guy, I am a Chevy guy. (please don't let this sway your answers) haha.. Anyway. I have a 1994 E-150 van. It has a 5.0 and an A4OD trans. I am aware that they do not have a detent cable, and that there are alot of parameters that determine if and when the transmission downshifts, but I was wondering where I should start. It will not kick down when I floor it, the speedometer works fine, but the ABS does not, it activates about every other time i stop under 5 MPH. the ABS light comes on when this happens, and it goes off and resets when I shut the van off. I know there is an ABS sensor on the rear diff housing, and I was wondering if this sensor also might have some bearing on the Detent?
