96 4.9 timing?
Could be different on yours, since its 8 years newer, but on mine it is the orange connector in the picture. The view is looking over the drivers side fender into the engine compartment.
Don't lose it! PUT IT IN YOUR POCKET. My plan for not losing mine it was to put it safely on my washer reservoir. Wasn't there sixty miles later! Here's a link to what it does http://www.merkurencyclopedia.com/EEC-IV/spout.html . You can run without it, but my mpgs dropped to 10 on the hwy without it and I had trouble starting it. Stuck a paperclip in there for the ride home and my power and mpgs went back up! Hope this helps!

Looked at some 92-96 year straight sixes while I was perusing the junkyard today, and it looks like Ford found it necessary to redesign the spout connector a couple times during those years. It should be near your distributor though, and I think it may be more of an inline disconnect on a single wire on yours rather than the U-type plug that is in mine. Its crazy how many times they changed little things on the same motor!
