If I recall correctly, the pin at the bottom of the sliding shaft has to come out. Mine was rusted in pretty good and needed a lot of penetrating oil and some heat from a propane torch before it would move. I think I made some kind of jig out of either wood or metal to support everything while I was pounding it out, but a nice size bench vise would probably work as well.
