Default 95 Inline Six Rebuild

ok guys i have a singlecab straight six with 300k, so the head gasket went out, so i decided to just do all the "might as well's" since im opening the motor. so give me the whole list of parts you'd prefer, budget is 1,000 to no more than 2,000 just on parts. labor is apart. im thinking new head, new seals, gasket set, maybe some headers. goal is to have a clean engine not looking for a performance truck just a stock rebuild, something i can rely on for another 300k, thanks in advance, also links would help!

At 300k I would do a full engine rebuild. I don't see the value in replacing the head, just clean up and reuse yours. Check the head and deck for warpage, but I doubt there is any.

I've always considered major engine work a balance. Do what you have to do first. If it's just burning oil, then the rings, seals, etc followed by "What's wrong with the rest of the truck?". You don't want to put $2k into the motor only to have the tranny fall out next week. If everything else sits pretty, then go for it.
