95 f150 e40d Shifting Problem
#31
well right now, i'm just waiting on my temp sensor and gauge...
ever since the cooler weather set in, i haven't had one problem what so ever no matter how far I've driven it... when i say "how far" i mean the 25 miles to town. It use to do it about 10 miles into the drive but since the cooler weather, it hasn't done it all the way there or all the way back yet. But I'll post back when I learn more....

It's a bad psom module behind guage cluster
Your psom is bad.I had all the same issues plus a few more:hard shifts,od light flashing, lost temp and oil pres. Guages, waving speedo, running rich and running like crap, abs light would come on sometime and cruise went out, numerous cel codes that would change (332,212,452 and more at differnt times)after chasing codes and replacing tps, iac, ignition module, eecv, vacuum lines,O2 sensor,Vss and checking all grounds and wires.Still had same issues after all of that... till a called a good mechanic in my area and he told me to stop throwing new parts at the truck.he stated"the psom (mounted on/behind cluster) was bad and I was better off going to junkyard to find a used cluster".so I went and found one at the salvage yard out of a 95 and paid $40 for the unit brought it home put it in the beast and BAM!Truck shifts normal, no flashing od light, abs and cruise work again, all gauges work correctly and no more fuel odor or cel.Back to normal.

I have a 1995 f150 302 5.0 with the e40d transmission speed density. that was originally stock with a 5.8 351w engine, I am having trouble finding the correct ecm for the new 302 and e40d setup can someone please help me out here? Also it's stock cam not roller rockers or e303 or HO, thanks

Where did the 302 and E4OD come from?
These trucks used 302 HO's from 94 on. So if its a non HO engine you will need a 92 or 93 computer. But that might pose other electrical problems on a 95 chassis. Need some more info.

It came from a bronco around a 92 model I think, I converted it from carborated to efi and all the plugs are matched up, original e40d that came with the 351 that was in my truck before so now the setup is speed density 302 with e40d w/overdrive automatic

Well it runs great but I just put a temporary ecm in it to get by but it doesn't shift hard or idle weird or anything it's just it kicks into overdrive or bogs down with that ecm in it, I don't know how to rep in injectors or the ecm, but I have the f4tf-aaa ecm in it which I was told is a manual tranny ecm but I haven't changed it because I don't know what to use or how to change the wiring

i had problems shifting and the truck would die at inersections sometime, my speedo would jump around and i almost sold the truck. i tried a new speed sensor, a new pcm, and took it to two different shops no answer and both shops were nice enough to change my new speed sensor and charge me for it. i tested to harness and it was fine. i finally found the problem. i have a suspenion lift and body lift. where the frame met the wiring harness for the speed sensor it had pulled the wire apart inside the insulation. when the truck sat still it was fine but when i hit a bump or the brakes or vibration from the highway moved the wire it would lose signal. i made a jumper and the problem was fixed.
