Default 94 5.0 tps problems

I was alittle curious do u fellers know where the most common rub spots in the wiring back to the ecm new tps sensor still says shorted voltage is like 4.9 and doesnt change can drive trk goin down road wont shift out of overdrive also ull be goin down the road and it will bog down the harder you push the throttle the slower it goes if that makes any sense just looking for some instite and also maybe a wirin diagram? thanks in advance....

When I replaced mine I had to do it twice because AutoZone sold me a bad sensor the first time. The chances of the exact same thing happening to somebody else seem slim, but it's something to think about.

I also had the same issues with it bogging down and not shifting properly.

Yeah...I agree with Shroomie, go swap it out for another 1...try that first...pick up a haynes or Chiltons manual while your there...they have all the electrical diagrams in them.

Somewhere in the 90's, Ford went from a fixed/ non-adjuatable TPS, to an adjustable TPS. make sure which one you're supposed to have & you have the correct replacement. I tried replacing my Fixed w/ an adjustable & ended up continually "out of range". Adjustable's have an elongated hole for the mount screw to allow position adjustment.

Anytime a sensor is replaced, the battery should be disconnected for a minimum of 5 minutes.

This is to remove error codes in the kept adaptive memory the sometimes cause that sensor's input to be locked out by the ECU. In such cases, the ECU would not recognize the senor was replaced for 40-80 complete warm up cycles.

Not sure in this case here, as you're actually getting an "out of range at idle" read from the TPS.

So TPS is reporting WOT at idle.

VREF = 5.0 volts. Values may vary 3 percent due to sensor and VREF variations. Sure sounds like it, if your showing close to that voltage at "closed" throttle. Check throttle position at closed throttle to make sure the throttle set screw has not be adjusted & is allowing closure, but Don't thing it could be "that" far out. You're either showing open throttle at closed throttle position on the return path to ECU (bad). Or your actually reading the VREF on the way to the sensor (correct reading).
