Default 93 5.8L starting issue! Please help!

My 1993 F150 4x4 5.8L won't start. It cranks but will not start. It has dual fuel tanks and I notice that when the key is on I hear a humming sound coming from one tank or the other depending on which one is selected. This happened once before and it somehow fixed itself after several days?! I do know or believe that the humming has something to do with why it is not starting because when it started after the first episode there was no humming. This was after several days of being left alone and many attempts to start. Please help and thank you very much!!!

One check for codes. Two check fuel pressure. Three check for spark. After all that post back with the results.

The humming sound is the fuel pump charging the system. If it doesn't stop humming, there may be a problem with one/both of the pumps.

Is it a possibility that the fuel is so low in both tanks that it can't actually prime the system? I may try adding a little gas to see what happens.

I remembered after my last post that one of the tanks was nearly full last time this happened so I don't believe gas level is the problem. Strange thing is now it has started again and I have no idea what is going on. I do know that I don't want to get stranded somewhere! I checked the codes last time and there were none. Any other ideas?

Fuel pressure test might help you get a jump on the problem before the problem jumps you again.

This is a 54 year old talkin, so take it for what you think it's worth:

#1. It will happen again, sooner than it did the last time.

#2. This is a good time to invest in an AAA card. One tow will more than pay for the card & the poor bast@rd's have to come get you anytime of the day or night.
