Question 92 f150 aod-e issues

Truck starts/runs/drives great shifts hard no slipping in the trans but will out of no where will jump into what sort of seems to be a neutral but at that point the truck will not go into any gear, and it makes a high pitch wine while doing so. If I shut the truck off and start it back up everything goes back to normal until of course it does it again. I was going to start with possibly a sticky shift solenoid? Looking for ideas. Trans fluid is full and it’s cherry red

Probably start with the shift solenoids. Assuming you've checked for codes already ?

It’s currently throwing no codes, what would you look into after the solenoids if it doesn’t end fixing the issue

The AODE was never offered in F-series. The closest was the 4R70W (essentially an upgraded AODE), but not until '94. You need to ID the trans model first (along with all the truck's OTHER details), and put everything into your signature here so we can see it with each post. Click this & read the caption:

If it's an AOD, there are no shift solenoids, or codes, since the EEC does not monitor or control that model trans. It's a purely mechanical automatic.
