Default 91' Ball Joints

I am changing the ball joints on a 91' F150 4x4. I removed the drivers side with no problems. I got to the point of pulling out the axle shaft on the passanger side and cannot get the axle shaft to come out of the pumpkin. I have done this job on a straight axle Dana 44 and the shaft just pulled out. Will the shaft just pull out if i remove a clip somewhere or do I need to pull it out of the slip joint? Any help would be great, Thanks.

There is a C-clip in the diff, you can pull the clip if you want but you have to drop the whole pumpkin. Myself I'd pull it apart at the slip joint, much easier.

Ya, I am just going to pull it out of the slip joint and install a new grease seal on it.

Once i cut the metal clip that secured the rubber boot on the slip joint it came right out.

Here are a couple pics of it apart.

That was me two weeks ago. I just put a 4" Rough Country lift on my '95 went to get it aligned and they said the lower ball joint was bad. I just slipped my right front shaft out of the slip joint and it went right back in no problem. Getting the steeringknuckle off was the hardest thing. Once I got one of those big ***** forks and a big ***** hammer it was easy.
