89 f150 problem
It has always been really hard to get the ignition to turn over far enough to engage the starter, and i actually broke the lock at one point. I replaced that, and when I put it back in it wouldn't engage the starter. Then it turned a little more and started. Next, the lock wouldn't turn back far enough to pull the key out so I took it apart yesterday and replaced the actuator rod. I put the actuator plate back in time with the gear that the lock turns and it worked fine. Then I put the turn selector back in and put the wheel back on. Then the key wouldn't turn far enough to engage the starter. After messing with it again, it went a little further and started but it was out of time again. What do I do to keep this from happening?
On the bottom of the column there is a switch where the rod from the key goes, it is adjustable, just loosen the 2 screws and move it a bit to where the key works, or it might just be bad.
