Default Clutch saftey switch

1991 f150 manual transmission 5.0 engine.
Has anyone found a solution with the clutch safety? I have to use all the strength I have when depressing the clutch to engage the starter. I recently had the clutch and clutch hydraulics replaced and hoped this problem would be better but it is not. My mechanic said there is not much you can do about it, just the nature of this creature. One of Fords better ideas.

Having a clutch safety switch is standard practice on any brand. I'm not clear on why yours is so difficult to press down, though?

I believe you can adjust it so you dont have to push the pedel into the floor mat. is the floor mat stoping pedel movement mabey just trim mat If you dont have a working cruise control just bypass the switch its just big brother in DC watching out for you.Dont blame ford.Bubbabud 2011XLT SC ecoboost

Default Clutch Safety Switch

I had the same problem. The switch is adjustable. The switch has a rod going through the switch, at the adjusted point it completes a circut. The adjustment stop on the back of the switch can be pushed/ click up a few notches until it works properly.
The switch is located near the top of the pedal. It is a white plastic part that has a pivot on the bottom and a rod connected to the pedal arm. The switch has a plug with three wires.

Hope this helps!

There are two different types of clutch safety switches, one isn't adjustable.

Even the non adjustable can be fine tuned with a pair of channel locks and a little grunt Bobbabud

So then do tell, how do you adjust a non-adjustable safety switch?
