Default 87 Fuel Problem?

Hey all... I have an 87 extended cab F150 with the long bed, dual tanks and a 4.9 I6. The old truck is running great on the rear tank but coughs and sputters some when running on the front tank. Anyone have any suggestions where to look on this one? Lemme know what you think.

Thanks!

I should add, it only coughs and sputters when I am accelerating, ie. I am giving it a good shot of gas. Does this change anything or should I still be looking at that fuel pump? Does that require removal of the tank to fix?

Thanks

Yes you should still be looking at a pump and yes the low pressure pump does require the removal of your gas tank... If yours is like mine( I have an 88) you should also have a high pressure pump mounted on your frame rail right by your fuel filter

you mean "when you try to give it a good shot of gas." Testing fuel pressure of both tanks selected separately should help ID the problem better. You would have to drop the tank if it's the tank pump.
