8.8 swap question

Default 8.8 swap question

i have a ford 8.8 with 4.10 gears and the rear is all but worn out and iwas wonderin what would be a better swap to replace the 8.8 i am just lookin for ideas thaks for the help

9" from early 80s. Or just get another ring and pinion.

would i have to do any ujoint switch,brake lines ,etc.

i just did a swap, my bearing were shot. its alot easier to swap the diff's than to rebuild one, plus you never know what you will find when you get in there, to rebuild it your looking at prolly a few hundred, replace it about 250 (thats what i payed for my used rear diff from a 96.

id rather not put another 8.8 in the truck, the previous owner already replaced it once before, i do a good amount of towin with the truck and would like to up grade i have done many rear swaps on my jeeps but never my truck

Any rear from 80-96 will fit.

If you're willing to change just the rear wheels, you could put a 10.25 sterling (f250 axle) in the rear... You'd just need different size U-Bolts and plates, and wheels of course as the sterling is 8-lug... But you could just buy an f250, that might be easier

then it would be worth it to you to just search for a heavier duty 8.8 for your truck.
