for my code reader, which is some cheapo handheld, I have to keep the clutch pedal depressed throughout the entire code reading process (obviously I have a 5 speed). I don't know if yours is that way, but mine wont read correctly if I don't do it. Don't know if that has anything to do with this, but just throwing it out there.

Is that the Innova #3145? That's a bummer. What's
the deal w/ 5 speeds? I've always liked manual trans vehicles. Alas, my truck is AOD (sometimes ADD or maybe that's just me). The only killer for me would be a short 1st gear. I've driven vehicles that I can walk faster than 1st gear topped off. Are F-150 manuals fun to drive as I think they are, or am I suffering from "Transmission Envy". Like if I had a manual I'd probably want an auto trans! My first vehicle was a 63' E-100 I-6 w/3 on the tree. I really loved the truck. Sold it w 200k+, still running. It was the first of 8 ford truck. only a few didn't make 200K before they were sold or put down. I'm 53 today!(You would think a "Street Sweeper" would have got me by now!) I hope I kick the "stroll down Memory Lane" by lunch!

Innova sounds familiar, but I'm not positive. It's annoying but you get used to it. I really like the 5 speed though, when I was looking for my f150, the manual trans and a short bed were my 2 must haves. My first gear isn't too bad, it isnt a granny gear or anything. I can take it to 20 or so in first if I'm pissed off or in a hurry, but for normal driving its a fairly short gear. I've driven a truck with a granny gear though, and thats pretty annoying to drive, even if you can pull down a house with it. I just feel a lot more in control with a manual trans.
