Default 5 spd shift issues

i have a 1995 f150 5.0 5 speed. I just had a new slave put in and it was working good at first now its shifting really hard. when i go to shift from N-1st I have to pull it slightly into 2nd before i push it up or it will grind! and the shifting is so rough N-1 1-2 2-3. I have to push it kind of hard to get it in gear and when i do it really slams. someone please tell me what the hell is going on

well damn guys thanks for all the replies... So I finally took it to the shop and had them look at it and come to find out the son of a bitch that put the slave in didnt put gear oil back in my transmission. Ive put between 100-200 miles on it since then. The shop said i need to do an overhaul on it now 1700 bucks . Can someone tell me how bad that was for my transmission. To what and how it did it damage? the shop just told me an overhaul but they didnt say what they were doing...any ideas? And do you think there going to be able to fix the problem completely or are they just trying to get me to waste money on it?

I'm having trouble understanding why they removed the tranny oil to do a clutch job! How can they give you and estimate without a complete visual inspection? I feel they are trying to send you down the road because of their error. Sorry guy. Good luck.
