4x4 Swap
So I have 2 1994 F150's one SWB 2 wheel drive 5.0L automatic trans. 121,000 miles. I have another LWB 4x4 4.9L 5 speed trans. 431,000 miles. The 4.9L engine is pretty much gone, it averages around 50 PSI per cylinder (the highest being 65 and the lowest 32), the bearings are shot, and it burns more oil than gas.
What I want to do is swap all the 4x4 stuff over to my 2 wheel drive. I have done some research but haven't gotten a lot of information, from what I can gather, the 5 speed transmission from the 300 should bolt up to my 5.0L (I know I have to get a pilot shaft bearing and the shorter driveshaft). I have also heard that I would have to change out the center hump to provide enough space for the 5 speed. Everything else from what i can tell is pretty much a direct bolt up job.
I do plan to basically rebuild the front and rear ends (ie., ball joints, tie rod ends, axle bearings, lubricants changes, the whole nine yards). Any extra information or help would be greatly appreciated as although I consider myself a decent mechanic I have never tried this before on any vehicle.

IMO I would go the other way... swap the 5.0 into the other truck and replace parts that way. But as for the 4x4 swap you should have everything except, like you said, the drive shaft. They are a direct bolt up and the 4wd indicator is even wired in already. I'm not sure if the clutch pedal bolts up or if you have to fab something up. Also, the brake pedal is different between the two. Also, be sure to look over the transmission to make sure it's in good working order. The Mazda 5 speeds are the absolute worst thing ford ever did for these trucks... I had a chance to pull a small block 4x4 zf 5 speed and kick myself every day for not grabbing it when I had the chance.
Yeah, I thought about putting the 5.0 in the other truck too, but it would be a bad idea, frame has been broken 4 or 5 times too many and its bent in a couple places. Also is the ECU from a 5 speed necessary, or will everything run fine without?
oh yeah I just realized something is your 5.0l SWB truck dual fuel tanks? if it is you will have to remove the front tank, and find a set of 4x4 SWB fuel lines.
short bed 4x4's only had the rear tank, there is not enough room for the front tank and the transfer case.

I know the transmission is good, has about 10,000 miles on a complete rebuild, and I'm not entirely sure if it is the Mazda transmission because this one is not the aluminum trans. its all cast iron.

Well, the check enggine light has been blown for 2 years, and if codes for a missing transmission is the only worry on that then I guess I can hold off on that for a little while, but thatnks for the info.

Yes, the SWB is dual tanks, as a matter of fact the LWB is also dual tanks, both tanks on both front tanks are 18-ish gallons. So I'm not entirely sure if I will have to remove the front tank or not, because my grandpa has a 1993 F-150 SWB 4x4 with dual tanks although it is with automatic trans. (not sure if that makes a difference).

Will post before and after pics inside and out as soon as I get everything prepped and ready for the swap. It might be a couple months out as the other truck is 200 miles away in my grandpas barn.
Ok, so I would like confirmation of whether or not I will have to change out the center hump to accommodate the 5 speed transmission as I want this to be done right and do not want to have any future headaches. Also, will I have to cut it out and guess at it, or does it have an outline that i can go by?
What I know right now: I need the clutch and brake pedal from the other truck, clutch master and slave cylinders, pilot shaft bearing, new clutch, pressure plate and flywheel (obviously), possibly the center hump from the 4x4, bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, new lubricant for both differentials and the transmission, the 5 speed transmission cross member and probably 2 days of free time cause I will be doing this by myself.

The hump comes with a hole in it that has been patched. You have to look under to see if you can just unscrew it or cut it. The hole is obvious from under. Also you may have to do the same for the 4x4 shifter if it's not a push button tcase.
