Are all 460's the same?? 460's were made from 70's until 97?? Looking to put a late model (97) engine into my 79 f150 supercab. Is anyone out there to help??

The earlier models have a smaller combustion chamber and a smaller dishes on the piston, this creates a higher compression ratio producing more power. They cut the compression ratio to around 8 to one to try and meet emission standards.

and all the newer crank gears for the timing chains have a 2-4 degrees retard cast into them...the older factory 67-72 are all straight up....
