Default 302 question

On my timing chain cover there is a shelf underneath the upper sprocket for oil (I'm guessing). With that said, do I need an "oil slinger" washer before the cover on the crank shaft? Some people say I don't bc I have that shelf so I wanna make sure before we get sealed up. I know the older motors didn't come with the shelf on the cover.

No, the bleed back from the top end will keep everything lubed.
