302 to 400m
Hey guys been awhile!
So im just waiting to get my block back from macheine shop, Im pulling the 302 out of the 96' ( so if anybody needs one i got ) and putting in my 400m out of my 80' f150. blocks being bored out .60 over, lined bored and crank turned. I orderd Tmeyer 9.3:1 pistons, i bought a performer non egr intake and a 650 edelbrock carb, havent decided on cam yet, ethier comp cam dual energy or ***** thumpr cam. I got a line on some 1970 2V cleaveland heads so hopefull this weekend I can go get them.
anyways now for my question.
Will the 400m engine mounts bolt into the 302 holes in the frame? the 400m came out of a 80' f150. everything looks the same to me but i just thought maybe one of you guys might know then i can swap parts before I set motor and trans. in!
Im VERY excited for this truck to be togther!! ......again lol

You will need a big block trans, the 400 has a different bellhousing than a small block, you should have went with a 351w it will bolt right up. You can use the same mounts as a small block.

The 400 has much better heads and more displacement, but it does have the big block bolt pattern for the trans.
as for a camAVOID COMP CAMS! and look for somthing with more exhaust duration than intake, the exhaust port flow is weak compared to the intake and that will help balance it out, I would buy Crane.
