302, 302 HO, or 351W Swap Questions
Alright guys -
I have looked at a few topics here regarding a possible 302 to 351W swap. I have a 290K 302 that has nearly no oil pressure and can barely tow my boat uphills - it's tired.
Anyway, my question (along with many other people) is: should I just get a rebuilt 302 or upgrade to a 351W? Does it produce THAT much more power and torque? Is it worth the hassle to swap? If I grab one of these engines off of Ebay, I can get the 302 for $1,800 and the 351w for $1,400 (long blocks). What else is needed to do a swap and is it worth it? (I know computer, exhaust manifolds, distributor, lower intake manifold, ps bracket need to be changed out). Does the 351W bolt to the AOD tranny?
OR should I go the 302 HO route??
Also, do you guys know of a place that sells really good rebuilt motors for the same price or cheaper (preferably in San Diego)? Any experience with the motors on Ebay?
For California emissions.... do these pass?
Thanks for any advice!

I would suggest that you go to advance auto or auto zone. This way you get between a 3 and 5 year warranty.
The 351w should bolt up and would be my choice if i was buying an engine.
