300 I6 pulling power
I have a 94 I6 4x4 355 gears 5 speed manual with 31x10.50x15 tires. Can't hardly pull. I also get 9mpg city or highway. It seems to have no getup. And to pull a trailer with a 3000lbs. tractor, gotta burn the clutch to get rolling???????
my thoughts are something is really screwed up. You're mileage is horrible and you can barely tow 3k. I don't even know where to start, make sure your plug wires are right and check for vacuum leaks and do a leak down test on the cylinders and try and find out what kind of compression you are losing.

A lot of the older guys say that the 31's are the whole cause. The truck came with 29's that's correct, and they say its so much more rotating mass that its a strain. If that was the case, then why did every old foagy I knew growing up say, "the 300 I6 was gods gift to man when it came to torque and bulletproofness." Huh??????????
its not going to be the tires, i'm running 31's with 3.55's and i never recalibrated it, and i've pulled a 9k tractor that was stuck in a muddy field and it didnt even hicup, and that is with my f150, my f250 is even stronger, it will turn 35's over on the pavement with 3.55's, you've got some major problems, i've had 4 300's and could always pull what ever i could hook to it.
