Default 300 6

I got a 95 300 6. I was looking to get a few more horses out of it. I was thinking headers with a X pipe, would this make any difference? what other mods are good for the 6?

Does an x-pipe even work in a straight 6?

Some of the best things you can do is give it some new stuff. Copper motorcraft or autolide plugs, new wires/cap/rotor, new filters, and new fluids. Most common exhaust is straight 2.5" pipe (stock size) 45'd out in front of tire. Muffler optional but cherry bombs seem to be a popular pick if you do. Also deleting 2nd cat if no worry if emissions.

Far as I understand it, all the EFI's have split manifold. Don't take my word for it but it seems in needed creating a x pipe system when straight pipe is efficient for some gain in mpg

Another mod I've heard of is a timing bump. Adjust the timing after new copper plus, bigger wires, new cap. TheN bump the timing. I've not done it yet with mine but I've heard of guys doing it and noticing insane differences. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat as well, I'm going to be doing some work on my truck and I got told to do headers, now I've heard from like 3 or 4 different mechanics that half say its worth it, other half say don't waste your money

I've heard headers worth these motors is pointless. Something about them being fine from a stock size

As far I know and read theres not much you can do unless you want to spend alot of money and this engine is more torque than hp. look up a six litre tune up. They'll tell you how to bump timing and all that. Seems to be easy and cheap. you can get bigger fuel injectors from an explorer. I considered the same doing all that to mine but aftere doing all this you'd be better off getting a V8. But I feel ya on wanting more hp outta your engine. I'm dying to get mine higher, you're just going to spend alot of money for little improvement. I'm not an expert nor have I tried any of this but from what I've heard from others on here and other sites.

You can get a v8, not a 5.0 a real v8 sized v8, but a six can work very well for not much, depending on what your definition of much is. The first things to do, electric fan, open up the exhaust, and some kind of air intake. Then msd box, mill the head port as nessesary, and stiffer valve springs. Unscrew the knock sensor, and re install it with lots of Teflon tape. Order a really good clutch, you ll need it.
