3.55 gears with 33's
I'm thinking of getting some larger tires at some point in the future. the stock gears/tires on the truck now are 3.55's and 29's. Will I have any problems keeping the stock gears with 33" tires? or will I need to regear

you will probably want to regear, but it won't be a must. if you regear to the same ratio ( i mean tire to rear end ratio) as now you will keep about the same gas mileage.

3.55s and 33 inch tires would be about the same as 3.08 and the 29 inch tires, which was an option from ford. so i can't assume it would be too bad, just don't plan on hauling any heavy loads, or smoking your tires.

I have 3.55's with 35's and its a little weak for my taste. However a buddy runs 33's on his and its about like driving a pretty stock truck with no real noticeable power loss. You will be fine with that set up.

the truck isn't exactly made of power... I would be pretty unhappy if it seemed to have even less, but I guess I'm balancing power against rpm at highway speed, right? currently I'm at about 66mph at 2k rpm. what rpm do I want to shoot for at cruising speed?
