Hello again, thanks for such fast replys! after doing more and more research i am planning on going to the closest i can get to a 4.56 gears for my front and rear end, will i need to get new axles if i do this?

i have a 5 speed tranny.

what advantages would 4.10's have over 4.56's?

The 4.10's would keep the power of the 300 down low where it's supposed to be while giving you more power. The 4.56's might bring you out of the power band at higher RPM's. The straight 6 300 has been known to blow the inspection cover gaskets out with higher RPM's. My buddy had one in an old 78. But he had a three speed so it might be different. 4.56's would allow you to go to a bigger toe down the road if you so choose.

If the front needs a new carrier you might as well go big with 4.56.

If going big, just get some axles out of a 3/4 or 1 ton. Lol. They should be able to hold those gears just fine.
