Default 1995 push button 4x4 won't disengage

Hey all , Having a small problem with my push button 4x4 actuator. It'll engage into 4 wheel drive no problem , but every once in a while it doesn't want to disengage back to 2hi. I've tried neutral , backing up , you name it. The only way I get it back into 2hi again is to sit there and repeatedly push the button till it decides to work. When I try and it doesn't work , I can't hear the click from behind the glove box. Is there a part behind the glove box that needs replacement??

There is a 4x4 shift module thats on the passenger side under the glove box. It has a test button on it. The Haynes manual explains how to test it I beleive. Mine went out but thats because it got water logged after I sank my truck and I had to replace it after I was stuck in 4lo. I bought another one from a JY for 50 bucks and did a test before I bought it. Works great now.

I just looked in my haynes manual and couldn't find anything in there other than a general description of how the electronic transfer case works. Is this shift module behind or under the glove box? Does the glove box have to come out?

No the glove box doesnt have to come out. Its behind the side panel in front of the passenger side door. It should be grey. There is a test procedure for it, I must have gotten it off of the Bronco forum. I will try and find it but if I cant google the bronco forum. You might have to be a member to search, and they arent very friendly to redundant questions.
