Default 1994 transfer case

My 94 with a 302 and 4spd auto got stuck in the mud and I was trying to rock it out in 4 low when something started to clunk and the front tires didnt move any more. In 2 it drives fine but I can hear a whine from the transfer case. Any ideas on what it is and how to fix it? And the cost to fix it?

Since none of us have xray vision or have been anywhere near your truck, I'm going to say no. If its internal you have to take it apart and find out what it is so you can fix. That cost depends entirely on what needs to be fixed. Or you can get a replacement from a junk yard (generally cheap) or get a new/refurbished one from somewhere (generally not cheap). You have to troubleshoot a little more before you start asking about what's wrong and how to fix it. "Something happened and now it makes a funny noise and doesn't work right" doesn't give us any information.

Is your transfer case electronic or manual? Have you put it in the air to see if everything moves and works as it should?

Are you sure its from the t case? Sounds like something in the front diff broke. Put the truck in 2wd and lock the front hubs. Try turning the front driveshaft. If you can spin it, it's not the t case.

The front driveline will turn with the hubs locked in and in 2wd, so what do you think it could be?
