my friends f250 auto 4x4 lost 3rd and reverse if he puts it on 1st and 2nd it will go fine but Drive will not function at all could it be the computer?

im not familiar with automatics at all thats why im asking.

 

Pull the dipstick, look at the fluid and smell it. Smells burnt prolly bad tranny. Also on the computer, any other codes or check engine light on. If not prolly not the computer.

 

you guys with your autos need to be looking up the videos on youtube. there is a guy that shows you how to rebuild your trannies, replace parts, install shift kits etc. I didn't know anything till I seen those vids.

 

LOL its not mine i had auto transmissions id rather be able to grind my gears LOL my friend just rebuilt it and it worked out fine on the road just shifted into 4 wheel drive and it crapped out on him he is pissed

i told him its the computer i bet because i hear all the time about the auto tans brain messing up.
