Default 1993 Starting problems...

1993 F-150 4.9L IL-6

When i try to start it i hear a loud click from the right side, went under the hood and saw it was coming from the solenoid ( i believe that's what it is correct me if im wrong ) the thing mounted on the right fender.
Anyways, it died at work and we had to get home so we grabbed a screwdriver and connected the diodes and it started right up, i haven't driven it since then but when i went to go start it today, same thing, tried to connect the poles and nothing.

halp!

Confused about the diode part? They are used for different electrical functions. Not sure as to your application. Home mechanic test, turn on headlights, if they work and stay on while trying to start engine, good the battery is OK and its a starter issue. On the other hand if the lights go out when the starter is engaged the battery is low on charge (can't supply the high amperage for the starter). Battery needs to be tested. Something all experienced mechanics do when replacing a battery is to naturally clean the terminals but also check and make sure the alternator is providing more than battery voltage. 13.8 to 14.2 is an excellent range.

Thanks man, it helped me in the right direction, it was my starter but my starter itself wasn't bad, all the plugs and everything was corroded and it wasn't getting a good connection.

thank you for pushing me in the right direction bill!!
