1993 missing bad
I have a 1993 4wd. Misses bad when on a hill or quickly accelerating. I just bought it a month ago, so I don't know what all has been done to it repair wise. Where should I start troubleshooting? Has 160000 miles.
It could be so many things...are you sure it' only under load or maybe it occurs all the time, but less noticeable.
when i got my 93 5.0, the guy told me it misses and engine light on.
engine light was a simple vacuum line, and the miss was a burnt up valve.
Do a compression test. Aside from just this issue, it will give you basic health of the engine.

I’d look into fuel pump / pressure if it’s under load. A tune up never hurts but it may not help and cost money. Get a fuel pressure guage and determine what it is, if possible have it visible while driving (be extremely careful) and see what the pressure does while you’re going uphill or accelerating. O
EFIs don't need "tune-ups" - just recommended maintenance, and repairs. They self-tune about 200x per second. This is the maintenance schedule, but it might be easier to read in the caption:

If you're not sure that the PO followed that schedule, inspect the truck & catch up anything that needs to be done. If the symptom still exists, follow the Troubleshooting guide before Ch.1 in the Haynes manual:

You should also put all the truck's details into your signature. Just for example: we need to know what ENGINE it has, but that's not all. Read this caption:

If it's a V8, this caption explains how to check the timing chain:

A set of plugs is cheap and easy to replace and also at the same time you can inspect plug wires and boots for condition. Had nearly same condition as you describe on sons truck and problem was one spark plug wire boot burnt and cracked.
