Default 1990 F-150 4.9 L I6 E4OD transmission

Speedometer doesn't work. Transmission slipped for months. Jumps when shifted into drive, sometimes shakes and dies before you press the gas but if you keep giving it has it runs without dying. Not shifting now, no drive, 1st, 2nd 3rd, or reverse. thinking it may be a torque converter problem. Help.

Now I'm no expert but I seriously doubt the torque converter is causing all that. There is something wrong with the transmission itself.

I was thinking the same thing... I don't think they had the E4OD before '92 did they?

Positive. It's a 20 bolt pattern transmission pan, sorta shaped like Nevada.

Not a very good picture but that's a 20 bolt pattern tranny pan.

I took it apart and have gotten to taking off the pan and flushing fluid out and there's no grime or residue from the transmission in it.

Lets get some history - did the truck ever run?

Reason why the guys are asking is because they didn't start using E4OD til 92. If your truck has one then someone did a swap and they will have needed to swap more than just the tranny to get it to work properly.

Okay I've done a little research, there were VERY few E4OD transmissions that were put in the F150s, as it was originally just introduced in the F250s and F350s, but some F150s were apparently sold with E4ODs.
