1990 4x4 Alignment
Hey everyone, i'm looking at buying a 1990 f150 4x4 rc short bed with a 5.8 auto. The truck has no rust to speak of which is uncommon in northern indiana where im from. The truck is extremely clean apart from a small tear on the bench seat and a little staining on the headliner. It also runs strong with no major problems and only has 120k miles. The only thing that worries me is that the truck is at a somewhat shady used car dealership and they cant seem to tell me a whole lot about the truck. The only obvious problem with the truck is the front tires have alot of negative camber to them. Im not sure if its a common problem or if it just needs a good allignment or if I should stay away from it. Theyre only asking $3100 for it so it seems pretty reasonable. Any advice would be appreciated.
If they backed the truck into a spot on the lot and left it to show, then that's why. These trucks have twin I beam front ends and when you back up in reverse for a few feet, the tires will go like this / \.
Redneck is correct, Fords TTB twin traction beam front suspension will sag while backing, Could also be ball joints or weak front springs, Both are easy to remedy and should not be a deal breaker. Take it to your favorite alighnment shop for a quick once over.
