1990 351 Distributor
my truck doesn't like to idle correctly, so I thought today I would do some basic things- clean the throttle body and check timing- well, I couldn't get the distributor to loosen up- undid the hold down so it was just barely on there, and even after soaking the dist base in wd-40 and lightly using some channel locks on the housing it wouldn't move.
Any ideas? its not pinned in place like my eec-III ltd was, is it?

ok so I have an EGR code in there, but I have replaced the EGR valve. I also have the ISC low idle code, and the low idle I was trying to solve but it seems better since I reset the timing and cleaned out the ISC and its ports. that leaves the lean code. not sure what that is about. ideas?

Check fuel pressure. If low, replace fuel filter, check pressure again. Possibility exists of fuel pressure regulator causing low pressure, or fuel pump itself. If you have dual tanks, and problem goes away with one or the other tank, pump is very suspect. imp
my truck has new pumps, replaced them both due to check valve failure causing the one tank to fill up the other.
I can definatley put a fuel filter on it and see if that helps, but seems like we did that when we did the pumps.

Check fuel pressure; simple, easy, and quick, tells you a lot. imp
