i have a 1994 f150 it wants to idle rough and when going down the road wory about droping the trans it shifts hard or acts like its not in gear have automatic trans

 

Does that year model have an IAC valve, idle air control valve?

 

If I was taking a wild guess...; vacuum leak

 

Which automatic transmission ? And which motor ? And what's the history of the truck etc.

Anyway, stab in the dark - I'd look at the TPS.

Of course you could always pull the codes (that costs nothing) before you spend any money on guesses.
