Hot over the coals

Life is very short. There's no knowing for sure that either he or you will be here tomorrow. That's why it's a good thing to settle these matters as soon as you can.
Sometimes the opportunity passes and you're left with unfinished business. That can haunt your mind for years afterward.
Just sayin' is all.
Live like there's no tomorrow !

I had a similiar thing happen in 1971 and as pissed as I was I let it go. I'm glad I did because life is too short to let a material thing break up a family. I did forgive but I never forgot and a level of trust was lost that never came back. I loved and respected my Dad and I'm glad I took the high road but I made a promise to myself that I would never do the same to my children, and I haven't.

There will be many other trucks but only one father in your lifetime.
Somewhere along the line respect was lost and the trust was broken.
Sit down and settle the matter with him once you've had a chance to cool off. (This isn't something you want to grudging over for the next twenty years.)

Are you still over seas? If so, maybe your father bought you a shiney new truck...you never know!
If that is not the case, best of luck to you and your father. I'm sure he had your best interest at heart.

Dodge+Ford = always ready
this story dont make sense, he makes 100k+ a yr, and is apparently crazy enough o need a pathetic 1k? even making half that 1k isn't a whole lot, even i can come up with 1k if i had to without selling a vehicle.......
im also going to assume that the truck was in his name. we need more context like others have said.

Thank you for your service. That said, this story makes absolutely no sense.
