I don't know that I even need it, but I can get a bed extender for about $75. I figure it might help organize the items inside the bed. The problem, its designed for a 2004 - 2008 F150. Will that fit my bed?

If you can get it, get the one for the 2009. The reason is that it folds up nicely. It may be more expensive but I think it will be worth it.

 

I've said it before and I'll say it again...ReadyRamp. More $$$, but I'v enot seen a more innovative or dual use item for vehicles in a long time, and very very well made. They fit the back of the 2009 F150 like a glove.
